Technical Team Lead – Software Development

Are you a hands-on technical leader who thrives in client-facing environments and enjoys solving complex issues? Ultracs Corporation (a USA-based subsidiary of Ultradata) is seeking a Melbourne-based Technical Team Lead to manage incident response, guide a small team, and support major client initiatives. With a strong software development background, you'll lead by example—resolving technical issues directly while mentoring others and driving cross-functional collaboration.

You’ll oversee a talented team, manage project support functions, and ensure seamless execution of incident management services. Your leadership will directly influence client satisfaction, operational efficiency, and the continued growth of the business in the USA.

The role reports to the Chief Officer - Emerging Markets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the delivery of complex client projects, ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Supervise and mentor a team of technical specialists, fostering a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement
  • Manage project support triage, defect resolution, and change request processes with precision and professionalism
  • Oversee third-party testing schedules and budgets, ensuring rigorous quality assurance
  • Act as the escalation point for project-related incidents, responding effectively to resolve issues
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and drive product enhancements
  • Manage resource planning, recruitment, training, and performance development
  • Maintain accurate reporting and administrative oversight, including timesheets, KPIs, and management updates.
What You’ll Bring:
  • Proven experience leading project teams in IT consulting, software delivery, or financial services
  • A definite willingness to “get your hands dirty” - along with leading a small team.
  • Flexibility in working across multiple time zones and working with teams based in multiple remote locations. This will require a willingness to participate in remote meetings outside standard ‘home location’ time zones
  • Strong understanding of client relationship management in project-driven environments.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with Universe/PICK environments, Epicor, Jira, IBM, and Microsoft technologies (SQL, Universe) will be a big plus
  • Tertiary qualifications in IT or related disciplines are desirable but not mandatory
  • Experience in Retail Banking or Credit Union sectors will be highly regarded.
