Building Trust, Solving Problems, and Capturing Nature’s Wonders

For nearly two decades, Nick Monaghan has been a cornerstone of Ultradata’s Support team, a trusted expert known for his calm problem-solving, deep technical knowledge, and genuine care for clients.

Every day, Nick helps Ultradata clients resolve complex issues, strengthen systems, and maintain confidence in the technology that powers their business. As one of the most consistent points of contact for many institutions, he’s built lasting relationships based on trust, responsiveness, and reliability.

From Banking to Fintech

Nick’s career began at Westpac, where he first developed an appreciation for the intricacies of banking, particularly lending. A colleague quickly recognised his capability and recommended him to a Lending Manager at BankVic (then PACCL).

Over the next 12 years, Nick rose through the ranks to become Lending Manager, cementing his expertise in customer service, process efficiency, and lending operations.
But in 2001, he decided to shake things up, so he said goodbye to finance and headed to Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, where he took up a position helping to manage a backpacker resort in Noosa Heads.

“My 7 years in Queensland had a huge positive impact on my life in so many ways. It taught me to not take life so seriously all the time and relax and go with the flow a bit more.”

Nick’s analytical skills and sharp attention to detail make him an invaluable resource often spotting nuances others might miss and transforming small discoveries into big improvements.

A Day in the Life

No two days are ever the same for Nick. His work spans everything from resolving support cases some quick, others deep and complex to mentoring colleagues and sharing insights across Ultradata teams.

“What I love most is the variety. There’s always a new challenge, and solving problems for clients never gets old. I take real satisfaction in helping them succeed and I’ve made great friendships along the way.”

Beyond the Desk

Away from work, Nick applies his same patience and precision to macro photography, capturing the hidden world of insects, spiders, and wildflowers. His stunning portfolio can be explored at lifeunseen.com.

When he isn’t out with the camera, Nick spends a lot of time on the golf course, which he has been playing in earnest for 20 years.

“I have certainly improved over the years, but a lack of consistency keeps things interesting (and frustrating).”
